Mandatory New Grantee Training
All Year 1, Year 6 and new Mentoring grantees are required to attend the New Grantee Training. This training is an opportunity for new coalitions to learn about their new grant, get acquainted with the Federal agencies and other partners that support DFC grantees and to attend workshops that help new grantees effectively begin their DFC tenure. All coalitions will be asked to pre-register for this event. Posting of the registration website will occur in the coming weeks. Each coalition should be prepared to send two individuals to the New Grantee Training.

New Grantee Fiscal & Administrative Training
In order to assist new grantees in being able to effectively access grant funds from SAMHSA, a webinar will be held on October 5, 2010 from 1pm-4pm EST. The topics covered during this webinar are Grantee Financial Management Requirements, Payment Management Overview and Grants Management Overview. Please alert the individual(s) responsible for the fiscal aspect of your DFC grant of this webinar. A detailed fact sheet about this webinar is included in your Notice of Grant Award packet from SAMHSA (arriving via US Postal Service in September) and all new (Year 1) grantees should plan on participating in this webinar.
National Coalition Academy
All Year 1 DFC grantees (FY 2010) are required to attend the National Coalition Academy (NCA). The NCA is a three-week long training course spread out over several months. During these three weeks, coalitions will be engaged in what we consider "basic training". The NCA will provide your coalition with the fundamentals necessary to start off your DFC experience on the right foot. This training is also open on a space-available basis to Year 6 grantees who have new staff or volunteer leadership who could benefit from this training.
As soon as you receive notice that you have been awarded the DFC grant, you should go to this link to register: http://www.cadca.org/content/nca-application-overview. If you have specific questions, contact CADCA's National Coalition Institute at 800-54-CADCA, ext. 225. Coalitions should plan to send two individuals to each of the three weeks. One person must remain the same, but the second person can change based upon material being presented and availability of individuals. We highly recommend bring coalitions volunteers and not just paid staff to the NCA.
